CM Sai says Congress promises are fake, He Retaliates to Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement; says “They betrayed the people, which is why they were voted out of power”

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai has targeted Congress National President Mallikarjuna Kharge over his remarks on election promises, calling Congress a party that breaks trust. Kharge recently made a statement in Bengaluru about election promises, which has since drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders.
In a lengthy post on social media tagging Kharge, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister strongly criticised the Congress party in the state as well.
In his post, the CM Sai wrote, “Congress party president Mallikarjuna Kharge has finally admitted the truth: that all of their popular promises are fake. The Congress party’s intentions and policies are as false as their promises. The previous Congress government did not fulfill any promises in Chhattisgarh and betrayed the public’s trust. The people have not given them a second chance and have removed Congress from power in the state.”
Sai further stated that “Wherever Congress goes, it creates a crisis of trust and destroys faith. However, in the BJP, ‘Modi Guarantee’ means a guarantee that will be fulfilled. In just 10 months, our BJP government has delivered on many key promises of ‘Modi Guarantee.’”
The Chief Minister tagged Kharge in his post, adding, “We have always aimed to do more than we promised. By urging only feasible promises, as Kharge did in Karnataka, he has exposed the real character of Congress. Kharge has acknowledged Congress’s deceit, making the reality clear to the public. Kharge should listen to his conscience and refuse to be a pawn of a particular family.”
On October 31, at an event in Bengaluru, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated, “We should only make promises we can fulfill, or else the next generation will have nothing but a bad reputation.”
In the midst of by-elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge sent a strong message to the state units of his party, advising them not to make promises in elections that would be difficult to fulfill upon coming to power, to avoid tarnishing the government’s image.
Kharge’s message is seen as a reality check for party leaders, especially considering the challenges faced by Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah government. During the 2023 Assembly elections, Congress made multiple promises of freebies to the public, but the government is now struggling to fulfill them.
Kharge advised state unit heads to make announcements that consider their states’ budgets, which could prevent difficulties and negative impacts once in government. In a press conference, Kharge emphasized the responsibility to factor in budget provisions when making promises, as the government’s image and public welfare are affected when promises are left unfulfilled.
