CM paid tribute to the composer of Chhattisgarh’s Rajya Geet, Dr Narendra Dev Verma, on his death anniversary
Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday paid floral tributes to the portrait of late Dr Narendra Dev Verma, a renowned litterateur, linguist, and composer of the Rajya Geet (Chhattisgarh State Song), at his residence office. Chief minister Baghel recognized Dr. Verma’s invaluable contributions to Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity through his literary works.
He stated that Dr Narendra Verma played a significant role in shaping the unique identity of the Chhattisgarhi language and culture through his creative talents. “Whatever he wrote, it deep-rooted itself into the hearts and minds of the people. He gave an immortal creation in the form of ‘Arpa-Pairi ke Dhar, Mahanadi hai Apar…,’ in which the magnificence of Chhattisgarh Mahatari was vividly portrayed. This song, born from his pen, has now become a symbol of Chhattisgarh’s self-respect.
Chief Minister further highlighted that Dr Verma’s writings vividly depict the essence of everyday life and culture in Chhattisgarh. When his Hindi novel “Subah Ki Talash” was translated into Chhattisgarhi as “Sonha Bihan” and brought to the people through theatre, it breathed new hope for brighter mornings into the hearts of the common people. He will always be remembered for elevating Chhattisgarh’s heritage and culture to new heights through his literary contributions. His legacy will continue to be cherished.
