CM Baghel Launches Yuva Mitan Parivahan Yojana: Free College Transportation for Students

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh has launched the Chhattisgarh Yuva Mitan Parivahan Yojana, a transformative initiative aimed at easing the transportation woes of college students hailing from remote areas. This scheme provides free transportation services for students commuting between their homes and colleges, alleviating the financial burden on them and fostering greater educational access. More than 1 lakh regular students enrolled in government colleges and universities stand to benefit from this groundbreaking endeavor.

During the launch ceremony at his residential office on Saturday, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his commitment to fulfilling his promise of free transport for college students. He acknowledged the challenges faced by students from underprivileged backgrounds, particularly those residing in distant locations. The Chhattisgarh Yuva Mitan Parivahan Yojana fulfills this commitment, making education more accessible for all.

Under this initiative, the state government will allocate approximately Rs 110 crore to finance the scheme, with half of the funding being contributed by bus operators. This shared investment will ensure the smooth operation of free transportation services, ultimately benefiting the students.

To access the scheme, students can apply for a bus pass through their respective colleges and routes on the official website. The college will review and approve applications, granting eligible students access to downloadable bus passes complete with QR codes. These passes will be checked by bus conductors to facilitate hassle-free travel to and from college.

The Chhattisgarh Yuva Mitan Parivahan Yojana offers numerous advantages, including easier access to higher education, financial relief for students and their families, and time savings. Moreover, this scheme will contribute to social inclusion by promoting equal access to education for all students, regardless of their economic backgrounds.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel highlighted several other significant education-related achievements during the event. These included the recruitment of over 30 thousand teachers to address the shortage in government schools, the appointment of assistant professors, librarians, and sports officers in colleges, and the launch of the Swami Atmanand Coaching Scheme for 12th-grade students preparing for NEET and JEE entrance exams.

Furthermore, Chhattisgarh has witnessed the establishment of new colleges, an increase in college seats, and the opening of girls’ and English-medium colleges, all contributing to an improved educational environment. The government’s tireless efforts have not only created opportunities for students but have also paved the way for a brighter future.

Minister Anila Bhediya, MLA Lakheshwar Baghel, Secretary to the Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Higher Education Commissioner of Higher Education Sharda Verma, college principals, and students attended the program, celebrating this significant step toward educational empowerment in Chhattisgarh.
