CM Baghel Inaugurates ‘Ambak’ Eye Wing at Jagdalpur District Hospital

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the ‘Ambak’ Eye Wing at Jagdalpur District Hospital (Maharani Hospital) today. The eye department of the district hospital has been renovated at a cost of Rs 35 lakhs, with the installation of new machines in the operation theater and enhanced patient facilities. ‘Ambak’ offers specialized eye surgeries and has a 20-bed IPD ward. 

Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister TS Singh Deo, and Commerce and Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma also graced the inauguration ceremony.

After the inauguration of the Eye Wing at Jagdalpur District Hospital, CM Baghel met with patients undergoing cataract surgeries and inquired about their health and well-being. He also presented fruits to the patients. He also inspected the state-of-the-art operation theater at the hospital. 

1052 Cataract Surgeries Performed at Jagdalpur District Hospital This Year

The Eye Department at Jagdalpur District Hospital has conducted 1052 successful cataract surgeries this year under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) as part of the “Mukt Bastar Abhiyan.” On average, the department performs 140-160 OPD consultations and 25-30 IPD surgeries daily. From April to July, a total of 5745 OPD patients have been treated, and 1052 cataract patients received free successful surgeries. As part of the NPCB, eye screenings have been conducted in various schools in the district, examining the eyes of 5439 students during the current financial year. Additionally, 52 students with vision impairments were provided with free spectacles during the programme.
