Chirayu Yojana brings medical relief to Pahadi Korwa children in Jashpur
Jashpurnagar: Chirayu Yojana, which operates under the Health Department, is proving to be a lifeline for children in remote areas. The scheme identifies children with serious ailments and arranges treatment for them. The Chhattisgarh government sends the children to the largest hospitals for care and the entire cost is borne by the administration.
A total of 90 children from the Pahadi Korwa tribe, a special backward tribe, have benefited from the scheme thanks to the efforts of the district administration and collector Dr. Ravi Mittal. Furthermore, under the Mukhyamantri Haat Bazar Clinic Yojana, nearly 6,000 Pahari Korwa families have received free medicines after a health check-up.
Chirayu’s medical officer Dr. Arvind Ratre said “Dedicated Chirayu team identifies children and enters their details into the portal to provide them with the benefits of the scheme. Children with serious ailments are successfully operated on in big hospitals in Raipur. Parents of these children shared that after the successful operation, their children are now healthy, and they are overjoyed to see them laughing and smiling. All parents have expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for the successful operation.”
Meanwhile, as many as 15 Chirayu teams are working in the district under the health department. Each team inspects Anganwadis and government schools in their respective development blocks twice a month. They provide treatment facilities by identifying children with serious illnesses.
Dr. Arvind stated that children belonging to the special backward tribes Pahadi Korwa and Birhor underwent successful operations. These included one child with cleft lip and palate, 06 children with congenital heart disease, 23 children with skin-related illnesses, 11 children with dental problems, 09 children with ear infections, 13 children with vision impairment, and 06 malnourished children, as well as 07 children with hypertension and 14 children with other illnesses.
He further added that Shiv Kumar and Savitri Bai, residents of the Bagicha development block, were suffering from congenital heart disease, which was successfully treated through surgery at AIIMS, Raipur. Similarly, Anima Bai, Sahil Banwasi, Anand Ram, and Sunita Bai, who were also suffering from congenital heart disease, underwent surgery at the MMC hospital in Raipur, while Manisha Bai underwent an operation for her cleft lip at Shri Medicine Hospital in Raipur.
