A woman identified as Priyanka Singh, wife of a railway employee, died by suicide at her residence in the Civil Lines area of Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh, after posting a video accusing several individuals, including a lawyer, doctor, temple priest, and businessman, of harassment.
In the Facebook post, Priyanka named the individuals, providing their addresses and holding them responsible for her death.
Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh and the investigating officer of Civil Lines police station suggested that the woman appeared to have been suffering from anxiety and other medical conditions. Her 22-year-old daughter informed the police that her mother often experienced irrational fears. The SP quoted the daughter, stating that Priyanka once suspected someone was trying to set her house on fire after an electrical short circuit, and would sometimes become frightened by loud noises.
The police are probing all aspects, including the possibility of Priyanka’s mental health playing a role in her death.
The authorities became aware of Priyanka’s intentions via her Facebook post on Sunday morning. Officers were dispatched to her home, but found the door locked. After her husband arrived and unlocked the door, she was found hanging from the ceiling.
