Strict Enforcement of Women Protection Laws
CM Baghel has issued strict instructions to enforce laws designed to safeguard women. Cases of crimes against women are being treated with utmost seriousness, and stringent actions are being taken against the perpetrators. To ensure efficient handling of such cases, women’s cells have been established in every police station across the state, allowing for independent investigations of crimes related to women.
No Government Jobs for Perpetrators
In a groundbreaking move, Baghel has announced that individuals found involved in crimes against women will be barred from obtaining government employment. This bold stance sends a clear message that the government is committed to rooting out violence against women at its source.
Comprehensive Safety Measures
The Home (Police) Department is spearheading an array of initiatives to bolster women’s safety in Chhattisgarh. Numerous schemes have been implemented, alongside a robust public awareness campaign to educate women about their legal and constitutional rights.
“Abhivyakti” Women Safety App
The Chhattisgarh government has developed the “Abhivyakti” women’s safety app, launched on January 1, 2022. This mobile application serves as a crucial tool for women to seek assistance and report incidents, contributing to their overall safety.
Empowering Women Through Awareness
The “Abhivyakti” public awareness campaign aims to empower Chhattisgarh’s women by imparting knowledge about their legal rights and constitutional protections.
Research Unit on Crime Against Women (IUCAW)
In six districts of the state, the Research Unit on Crime Against Women (IUCAW) has been established, further enhancing the government’s capabilities to address issues concerning women’s safety.
Dedicated Police Stations and Cells
Chhattisgarh is leading the way in providing dedicated resources for women’s safety. Separate police stations for women are operational in four districts, and women’s cells have been established in all 455 police stations/posts across the state. District-level women’s cells ensure swift resolution of women-related issues and complaints.
Enhanced Surveillance
To bolster security in public places, the government has installed a remarkable 50,000 CCTV cameras, providing an added layer of protection for women.
Victim Compensation Scheme
The Compensation Scheme for Women/Survivors of Sexual Harassment/Other Crimes – 2018 is being diligently implemented in Chhattisgarh. This scheme offers relief amounts of up to a maximum of Rs 10 lakh for victims, aiming to alleviate their suffering and provide financial support during challenging times.
