On Saturday, a brainstorming session of the governing council of the District Mineral Foundation Trust was held in the conference room of the collectorate in Bilaspur. The meeting was chaired by Collector Saurabh Kumar and attended by Bilaspur MLA Shailesh Pandey, Parliamentary Secretary Rashmi Ashish Singh, Bilha MLA Dharamlal Kaushik, Masturi MLA Krishnamurti Bandhi, Beltara MLA Rajneesh Kumar Singh, and Zila panchayat president Arun Singh Chauhan.
During the meeting, approval was given for the construction of a foot overbridge at a cost of Rs 78.24 lakh to connect the collectorate premises with the old composite building and district court.
MLA Shailesh Pandey explained that this is the most sensitive area in terms of offices. The new and old composite buildings, including more than 50 government departments such as the collectorate, district court, zila panchayat, registry office, police, and municipal corporation, are located opposite Collector Road. Several departments are interconnected, and thousands of people who come for essential work are forced to cross the road multiple times during the day, which poses a risk of accidents. He said that a foot overbridge could solve this problem, allowing the general public to cross the road fearlessly.
