An Impasse between Govt and State Employees, Strike to continue for now.

Raipur. The impasse over the state employees’ strike continues for the time being. The representatives of the employees’ organisation met Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain and talked. On the demands made by the delegation, the Chief Secretary said that he would convey their requests to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Kamal Verma, convener of the Chhattisgarh Staff Officers Federation, stated that they had positive discussions with the Chief Secretary. Employees’ organisations want to find a happy medium that will end the problems and stagnation in government offices. Kamal Verma said that the Chief Secretary assured that he would bring the employees’ demands to the government’s attention. For the time being, the strike will continue.

The state employees on strike are demanding a 34 per cent dearness allowance and house rent allowance on the seventh pay scale from the same due date as the central government. The indefinite strike started on 22nd August. After eight days, negotiations between the government and the labour unions have finally begun, which has piqued the interest of the employees. Soon, talk of ending the strike based on an agreement between both parties will emerge. Reportedly, the HRA could not be reached in negotiations with the Chief Secretary. The Federation has made its point. The government can now decide at any time.
