Amit Shah’s Bastar Visit : Likely to Enter Hidma’s Village and Abujhmad, Setting Historic Precedent
Raipur
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Bastar, Chhattisgarh, and speculation is rife that he may visit Puvarthi, the native village of the dreaded Maoist leader Hidma. Discussions also point to a potential visit to the remote region of Abujhmad. If these visits materialize, Shah would become the first Home Minister of India to enter these high-risk areas.
Puvarthi, known as Hidma’s home, has long been under Maoist control, barring entry without their approval. Recently, a joint security camp established by CRPF, DRG, STF, and CoBRA forces has marked a significant shift in the region. Shah’s visit may include interactions with the local population, symbolizing the government’s efforts to reclaim these areas from Maoist influence.
Shah may also visit Abujhmad, often referred to as the “capital of Maoists.” This region, now a site for an upcoming Indian Army base camp, has seen transformative changes due to intensified security operations.
Shah will arrive in Raipur at 11 PM tonight and spend December 15–16 in Jagdalpur, where he will attend several programs. His schedule includes meetings with surrendered Maoists, interactions with security personnel, and discussions with the families of martyrs.
Under Shah’s directive, over 25 security camps have been established across Bastar this year, leading to substantial developments, such as roads, schools, and voter ID registrations. The region has also seen a sharp decline in Maoist activity, with 219 Maoists neutralized and 800 surrendering in the past year alone.
