Finally, the dream of Surguja residents to fly is now taking shape. Under the domestic flight scheme of the central government, the government has built an airport at Darima, 15 km from Ambikapur, the district headquarters of Surguja.
This airport was named Maa Mahamaya Viman Floor after Maa Mahamaya. Along with the central government, the state government extended its full cooperation to this airport and expanded the runway with its funds.
The first ATR (72-seater) will fly. This flight will be from Raipur to Ambikapur and then from Ambikapur to Banaras.
On the other hand, Health Minister of Chhattisgarh TS Singhdeo said that “I am constantly in correspondence with Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister in the Union Ministry of Aviation. I have also requested to start flights from here to Delhi three days a week. There will also be a demand for air service to these places.
The Modi government at the Center has paved the way for the airport construction under the domestic flight scheme but there has been no release or message from Surguja MP Renuka Singh.
