Aman Sahu, Close Associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, Remanded for 5 Days: Brought to Raipur by a Team of 40 Police Officers from Jharkhand for Questioning in Businessman Firing Case

Raipur
Gangster Aman Sahu, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi, has been remanded to five days in police custody by a Raipur court until October 19. The police will question Sahu regarding the firing incident targeting businessman Prahlad Rai. The hearing took place in the court of Justice Bhupesh Kumar Basant.

Aman Sahu was arrested from Jharkhand a day earlier, and a team of 40 police officers brought him to Raipur on Monday morning under a production warrant. Sahu is the prime accused in the shooting of businessman Prahlad Rai Agrawal.

Prahlad Rai, who owns PRA Construction in the Telibandha area, was targeted on July 13 when Sahu’s associates opened fire. Along with Sahu, Lawrence Bishnoi’s name also surfaced in the case.

Raipur police had previously made four unsuccessful attempts to bring Sahu to Raipur under a protection warrant, but the request was denied each time. However, after discussions between police officers from both states on Saturday, approval was granted, and Sahu was brought to Raipur on Sunday evening.

A well-equipped team of 10 officers led by the ACCU chief escorted Sahu to Raipur, with an additional team of 30 officers from Jharkhand joining them. This team was armed with advanced weapons to ensure the secure transfer of the gangster.

Sahu was first arrested in 2019 but escaped custody on September 29 of the same year. He was re-arrested in July 2022 and has been operating his gang from Giridih Jail in Jharkhand. His network extends across several districts in Jharkhand, including Dhanbad, Ranchi, and Ramgarh, and he primarily targets coal mining companies and transport businessmen for extortion.

Sahu is infamous for his extortion activities and has over 50 criminal cases filed against him. He is also accused of orchestrating the murder of Sharad Kumar, a project coordinator of the NTPC coal project, after demanding ₹60 crore in extortion. Additionally, he is linked to a shooting incident targeting a jailer in Giridih.

Despite being in jail for the past two and a half years, Sahu has managed to run his gang from within, leading authorities to transfer him between various prisons nine times during this period. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is also investigating his gang’s activities.

Sahu’s gang consists of 145 members, 99 of whom are outside jail, and the gang is known to possess over 250 advanced weapons. In Chhattisgarh, his gang has carried out two significant attacks, including the shooting of businessman Prahlad Rai Agrawal in Raipur. Police have arrested six individuals in connection with this attack.
