Accident in SECL’s Kusmunda Coal Project : Worker Dies, Employees Protest for Compensation and Job
Raipur: A tragic accident occurred at SECL’s Kusmunda Coal Project, resulting in the death of an employee. The incident has sparked outrage among the workers, who are demanding proper compensation and a job for the deceased’s family. The company officials were informed about the accident, and Kusmunda police promptly arrived at the scene.
According to reports, the accident took place at the Kusmunda mine, where a contractual worker was fatally struck by a heavy vehicle. The deceased, Sarvesh Kumar, a 42-year-old and resident of Sultan Ganj, Bihar, had been working with the Neelkanth Company for the past few years. The situation at the site turned tense following the incident, with coworkers expressing their anger.
The accident occurred around 1 PM on Friday during work hours. Sarvesh Kumar was hit by a grader machine and died on the spot. He had been living on the company premises and was working the first shift at the time of the incident. Fellow employees are now protesting, demanding adequate compensation and employment for the victim’s family. They have stated that no further operations will resume until their demands are met, creating a situation of a strike at the mine.
Police Investigating the Incident
Kusmunda Police Station in-charge, Rupak Sharma, confirmed that the police reached the site immediately upon receiving information. A detailed investigation is underway, and the victim’s family has been informed about the incident. Further actions are being taken to address the situation.
