Chhattisgarh Empowers Women and Promotes Higher Education with New Initiatives

The government of Chhattisgarh has taken several initiatives to promote higher education and women’s empowerment in the state. The age limit for college admission has been abolished, resulting in more opportunities for people to study. The state government has established new colleges and faculties for various subjects, and its efforts to improve the quality of higher education have led to 192 NAAC-accredited colleges.

The number of students seeking college admission has increased significantly in the past four years, with 33 new government and 76 non-government colleges established, bringing the total number of colleges to 549. There are also nine state universities and fifteen private universities in operation.

To encourage women’s education, 26 girls’ colleges have been established, and co-education is available in other colleges. In the year 2018-19, 1,34,391 girls took admission to colleges, compared to 91,982 boys. In 2022-23, the number of boys increased to 1,28,310, and the number of girls increased to 2,06,829. The number of girl students is 61% more than that of boys.

The government has also recruited qualified personnel to fill vacant positions, including assistant professors, librarians, and sports officers, to improve the overall quality of education.

The government’s initiatives have promoted higher education and women’s empowerment in Chhattisgarh.
