Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League Final Washes Out: Raipur, Rajnandgaon Declared Joint Winners


Raipur: The final of the Chhattisgarh Cricket Premier League (CCPL) Season 2, scheduled for Sunday evening, was called off due to heavy rain. As a result, the two finalists, Raipur Rhinos and Rajnandgaon Panthers, were declared joint winners.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla presented the winners’ trophy to both teams. Rajya Sabha MP Rajiv Shukla, who is rarely seen in Chhattisgarh, specifically travelled to Raipur for the event.

Chief Minister Sai, addressing the CCPL Season 2 closing ceremony, stated it was a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh to host a cricket tournament like the CCPL. He affirmed the state’s continuous efforts to promote all sports. Sai also highlighted that the league provided a great opportunity for talented state cricketers. He congratulated the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association for organising the tournament.

The Chief Minister expressed his congratulations and best wishes to both Raipur Rhinos and Rajnandgaon Panthers and wished all players a bright future. He expressed delight at the large turnout of cricket enthusiasts despite the inclement weather. Sai hoped that the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association would continue to organise the CCPL in the future.

The CCPL Season 2 took place from June 6 to June 15. Six teams participated:

  • Raipur Rhinos
  • Rajnandgaon Panthers
  • Raigarh Lions
  • Bastar Bisons
  • Bilaspur Bulls
  • Surguja Tigers

Captains Amandeep Khare of Raipur Rhinos and Ajay Mandal of Rajnandgaon Panthers received the winners’ cup from the Chief Minister.
