Chhattisgarh CM vows to eradicate Maoism amidst recent surge in attacks

Raipur
In response to a recent surge in Maoist attacks, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai asserted on Sunday that the state’s “double-engine” government is poised to combat Maoism vigorously and eradicate it entirely. The Chief Minister made these remarks during a media briefing in Jashpur district.
Highlighting the Maoists’ opposition to government welfare schemes and development initiatives in Bastar, the Chief Minister emphasized the establishment of base camps in remote Maoist-affected areas to facilitate development. Despite facing resistance from Maoists, the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to eliminate them, stated Sai.
As part of a new strategy, the state government is setting up police camps in areas previously dominated by Maoists. Notably, Puvarti village, hometown of Maoist commander Hidma, is among these targeted areas.
“We are advancing development initiatives such as road connectivity, water, and electricity in villages once under Maoist influence, with the aim of permanently eradicating Maoism,” Sai affirmed.
Reflecting on the strengthened anti-Maoist efforts since assuming office, the Chief Minister underscored the advantage of having a “double-engine” government. He highlighted the ongoing establishment of new security camps aimed at extending government facilities to the populace.
Acknowledging Maoists’ opposition to government schemes, Sai affirmed the government’s determination to counter their resistance. He expressed confidence that with steadfast resolve, Maoism would eventually be eradicated from the state.
