Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai to pitch for investment in Japan, South Korea

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai is embarking on his first overseas tour on Thursday, visiting Japan and South Korea to seek foreign investment for the state. He will depart from Delhi this evening.
Prior to his departure, Chief Minister Sai informed the media that he will present Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy to business leaders and invite them to invest in the state. He is scheduled to attend the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, which focuses on electronics, food processing, and the automobile sectors.
“There is immense potential in these sectors in Chhattisgarh,” he said. “The government wants foreign investors to come and set up businesses here.”
The Chief Minister is being accompanied by his wife, Kaushalya Devi Sai, and a delegation of senior administrative officers. In Delhi, the Chief Minister will meet with senior leaders before flying to Japan. Minister Ramvichar Netam and former minister Amar Agrawal also travelled with him to Delhi. Ministers Gajendra Yadav and Guru Khushwant Saheb saw him off at the airport.
The Chief Minister’s tour will focus on attracting investment, securing technical cooperation, and developing new models for industrial growth. The government is focusing on electronics, automobiles, food processing, and renewable energy.
After Japan, the delegation will travel to South Korea for meetings on industrial partnerships, technology transfer, and logistics improvement. Cooperation with South Korea is expected to create new opportunities for smart manufacturing and infrastructure development in the state.
The Chief Minister’s overseas trip is considered important for showcasing Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy on an international platform. The state has an ideal environment for industry due to its natural resources, connectivity, and investor-friendly policies.
The state government believes foreign investment is crucial to strengthening Chhattisgarh’s economy. The government aims to establish Chhattisgarh as a hub for the electronics, food processing, and automobile sectors in the coming years.
Chief Minister Sai said that entrepreneurs who invest in Chhattisgarh will be provided with all necessary support. The state has abundant land, power, and human resources for industries. He expressed confidence that the tour will attract new investments and take Chhattisgarh to new heights of development.
Status of investment in Chhattisgarh
- Under the new industrial policy, the state government has prioritised the power sector and has received investment proposals worth over ₹3 lakh crore.
- During investors’ summits held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Raipur, the state received investment proposals totalling ₹6.65 lakh crore.
- The state government has laid the foundation stone for Chhattisgarh’s first semiconductor unit, marking its entry into the chip manufacturing sector. The project is estimated to cost around ₹1,100 crore.
- The state government is also establishing a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Naya Raipur, with an estimated cost of ₹271 crore. This project is expected to create significant employment opportunities.
