Chhattisgarh CM denies Rajasthan counterpart’s claim of forest clearance for coal mines

Raipur

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai has dismissed his Rajasthan counterpart’s claim regarding forest clearance for coal mines. The Rajasthan government had claimed that their coal mine in the Hasdeo Aranya coal field received approval from the Forest Department. On July 12, Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma claimed in a social media post that the Chhattisgarh government had granted permission to use 91.21 hectares of forest land.

CM Bhajan Lal expressed his gratitude to Vishnu Deo Sai for this approval in a post on social media platform X.However, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister has now denied the approval. When Sai was asked by the media about the Rajasthan CM’s thanks for the Forest Department’s approval for the coal mine, he said, “It must have been a mistake on their part.”Following this denial from the Chhattisgarh CM, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot politically counterattacked both Chief Ministers. Gehlot released a statement accusing both CMs of misleading the public and called for clarity on the situation.Gehlot wrote on X, “It is very surprising that there is a contradiction between the statements of the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.

Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal claims that the Chhattisgarh government has granted permission to use forest land in the Parsa East and Kanta Basan (PEKB) coal blocks for supplying coal to Rajasthan’s power plants, but today Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai says there is no such thing.”Gehlot further wrote, “The truth should be told to the people of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Are the officials misleading both CMs on this issue, or are both CMs together misleading the public for their own political interests? On such an important issue as electricity, both governments need to be sensitive. But who will benefit from such misleading politics?”
