Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday hit back at opposition BJP for its liquor ban demand and asked whether the opposition will be able to ban the liquor in BJP ruled Madhya Pradesh and it will ensure union minister Smriti Irani takes action on Mundraport. The chief minister stated this while replying to questions of media persons at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur. He landed in Raipur after attending an election rally in Himachal Pradesh on Monday evening.
The BJP is organizing a Mahtari Hunkar rally demanding action on increasing crime against women and prohibition of liquor in Chhattisgarh. Union Minister Smriti Irani will be attending the rally proposed in Bilaspur on November 11.
The chief minister question if the union minister can get liquor prohibited in Madhya Pradesh and take action against Mundra Port causing pollution. The chief minister welcomed the union minister Smriti Irani in Raipur.
On a question about SI recruitment, Chief Minister Baghel said, the process of SI recruitment started from 2013, but nothing happened. When the election came, the process went ahead but there was confusion in that too. “We fixed it in 2021. We are constantly recruiting people and will continue to do so.”
Baghel said that there is a provision in the Constitution that SCs and STs should get reservation on the basis of their population. According to the recommendation of MandalCommission, OBC should get 27% reservation. Right now, the Supreme Court has approved that EWS should get 10% reservation. “We are in favour of it. On a recent High Court decision that dwindled ST reservation from 32% to 20%, the chief minister blamed the BJP for the same. We will fix that. We have told the tribal society that no one can snatch their rights,” said the chief minister.
On candidate for Bhanupratappur by-poll, Baghel said the party high command will decide the same.
We will win Himachal: Baghel
The Chief Minister said, BJP did not fulfill its promises in the five years of power in Himachal Pradesh. They had announced to build 69 National Highways, none was built. There was an announcement to build an airport in Mandi, the home district of the Chief Minister, but could not happen.
There was a promise of doubling the income of the farmers, but that did not happen, on the contrary, their expenditure doubled. Their future was also handed over to the industrialists. State government employees-officers are asking for old pension. BJP is silent on that. Congress will implement old pension in Himachal. There is a wave of change in Himachal.
