Chhattisgarh Civic Poll Results Tomorrow: BJP’s Arun Sao Says Congress Making Excuses, Congress Chief Baij Questions Election Commission’s Credibility

Raipur
The results of the Chhattisgarh urban local body elections will be announced tomorrow, Saturday. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, speaking in Raipur, expressed confidence that the results would favor the BJP. “We are assured of victory. The BJP fought these elections with full seriousness. We presented the ‘Atal Vishwas Patra’ to the people, outlining a roadmap for urban development. Over the past 13 months, we have worked with complete commitment,” he said.
Sao added that he expects the BJP to win most of the urban local body elections. “We conducted nomination rallies, roadshows, and public meetings in several municipalities, and the enthusiasm of the people was evident. This clearly indicates that the election results will be in favor of the BJP. The outcome of these elections will be better than that of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections,” he asserted.
\Sao Accuses Congress of Making Excuses for Defeat
Taking a dig at the Congress, Sao claimed that the party has already started making excuses even before the results are out. “There is still one day left for the results, and the Congress is busy finding excuses for its defeat. Everyone knows they are preparing to blame EVMs. The Congress is well aware that they have not undertaken a single development initiative in urban areas over the past five years, which is why the people will not support them,” he remarked.
Sao also highlighted the Chhattisgarh government’s efforts in promoting the film industry, increasing honorariums for artists, and providing financial relief to support the state’s art and culture.
\Congress Chief Baij Questions EC’s Credibility, Claims Victory
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij also expressed confidence in a Congress victory. However, he raised concerns about the role of the State Election Commission, calling its conduct “highly suspicious and objectionable.”
“During the elections, there were multiple instances of EVMs malfunctioning and remaining inoperative. The Election Commission remained passive throughout the voting process. Shockingly, they later released voter turnout figures showing 138% polling in Kota Nagar Panchayat and 103.50% in Nawagarh Nagar Panchayat. How can we trust such an Election Commission?” Baij questioned.
He asserted that the post-poll scenario indicates that Congress will win most municipal bodies. “There is widespread resentment against the BJP government in the state, and the people have voted against it,” he claimed.
People Have Voted Against BJP’s Failures: Baij
Baij criticized the BJP government, alleging that law and order in the state have collapsed. “The public is disillusioned with the BJP government due to the rising incidents of murders, rapes, robberies, and stabbings. In just one year, the Sai-led BJP government has disappointed the people, which is why they have voted against it,” he stated.
He further claimed that the civic polls were a referendum on the BJP government’s failures and broken promises. “Over the past year, the BJP government has failed to meet people’s expectations. Youth, farmers, women, laborers, students, and marginalized communities all feel betrayed,” Baij concluded.
