CG Govt makes it mandatory to put portrait of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ in all govt offices

Raipur: Chhattisgarh government has made it mandatory to put portrait of ‘Chhattisgarh Mahtari’ (mother) in all government offices across state. An order in this regard has been issued on Thrusday. Earlier, the government had decided to give promimnent place to the portrait of Chhattisgarh Mahtari in all government programmes.
In the instructions issued by the General Administration Department, it has been mentioned that apart from government buildings, offices, programmes, the portrait of Chhattisgarh Mahtari should be displayed in all government educational institutions, training institutes, panchayats and local bodies.
Meanwhile, the portrait of Chhattisgarh Mahtari was made during the state movement. It is said that the protestors made this picture on the basis of the picture of Mother India. In this, Chhattisgarh Mahtari is seen adorned in the traditional costumes and ornaments of Chhattisgarh. Wearing a green sari, the mother holds a paddy ear and a sickle in her left hand. The other hand of the mother is giving blessings to the people in Abhaya Mudra.
During the state movement, the Chhattisgarh Mahtari temple was also built in Raipur and Dhamtari’s Kurud in the 90s. Later, two-armed statues were installed in many cities. Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel had unveiled a statue of Chhattisgarh Mahtari in Birgaon last year.
