The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded to the Congress party’s claim that many women in Chhattisgarh are not receiving funds from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel asserted on social media that women were not getting the scheme’s money. On Tuesday, former Minister Dr. Shiv Dahariya also made a statement on this matter, saying that gradually everyone will stop receiving money.Following these statements, Chhattisgarh’s Finance Minister O.P. Chaudhary challenged both Congress leaders, stating, “They should come with me to their own village or to my village and ask the women if they are getting the money or not. The truth will be clear.”In a social media post, former CM Bhupesh Baghel wrote, “A scheme was started in the name of ‘Mahatari,’ and then they began collecting money from the people of Chhattisgarh under the pretext of electricity bills to fund this scheme. Despite collecting from the public, why are women not receiving the funds from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana? This ‘extortionist’ government must answer.”Former Minister Shiv Dahariya stated, “The government should release the list of people who have received funds from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana. After the elections, many people are not receiving money.
We are receiving complaints from villages. People called me yesterday to inform me that the money has stopped coming. Now that the elections are over, the funds from the Mahatari Vandan Yojana will gradually stop for people.”Responding to these claims, Finance Minister Chaudhary said, “When Bhupesh Baghel released his manifesto during the 2018 elections, he promised that every month, 500 rupees would be given to the women of Chhattisgarh. In the last five years, no one received even 5 rupees. Today, an amount of 655 crore rupees is being distributed every month to 70 lakh women in Chhattisgarh. This money is being continuously distributed, which is causing them discomfort. We are ready to visit their village, and if we ask the women there to raise their hands to indicate if they are receiving the funds, Bhupesh Baghel can see for himself.”OP Chaudhary added, “I also invite them to my village. Wherever they want to go, let’s go and ask if people are receiving the Mahatari Vandan funds. The women will raise their hands, and the truth will be clear. They should explain why they did not give 500 rupees to the women as promised.”State Congress Communications Department President Sushil Anand Shukla stated that in July, all eligible women did not receive the funds. Complaints of not receiving the funds are coming from Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Sarguja, Bastar, and other places. After securing votes in the Lok Sabha elections, the government is conspiring to disqualify a large number of women and remove their names from the list of beneficiaries.BJP state spokesperson and former MLA Ranjana Sahu responded, saying that as soon as the government came to power, it swiftly implemented its promises, setting an example across the country and proving that the BJP does what it says. She added that during the assembly elections, Congress leaders claimed that the Mahatari Vandan Yojana would not be implemented and no one would receive money. After the BJP won the election, Congress members said that no money would be received. Even after the first and second installments of the Mahatari Vandan Yojana were given, the Congress party said that the next installment would not be given. Even after the Lok Sabha elections, women received funds and will continue to receive them. This was not an empty promise like those of the Congress, but a guarantee from Modi.
