Bilaspur gets state-of-the-art Command and Control Center for urban traffic managementBilaspur

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday dedicated the new Integrated Command and Control Center to people during his Bhent-Mulakat programme in Bilaspur Assembly Constituency. He inspected the city’s traffic control system in detail at the center. Besides, he also presented the traffic police with a symbolic 5e challan machine as a token of appreciation.

Officials said Command and Control Center has been constructed under the ITMS project at a cost of Rs 173.41 crores by Bilaspur Smart City Limited. The center aims to ensure organized management of urban traffic and monitoring of the city’s security system through 523 modern cameras. Challans will be directly delivered to the doorstep of those who break traffic rules.

The scheme entails monitoring the city through 523 cameras located at 43 different spots, for purposes such as traffic management and surveillance. Among these cameras are 208 surveillance cameras, 212 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, and 108 evidence cameras. Cameras have also been installed at other key locations throughout the city in addition to the 22 squares and intersections. A total of 22 squares and intersections in the city have been outfitted with special traffic signals and a Public Address System (sound). Moreover, smart LED boards have been installed at ten major locations across the city under the Public Address System.

Implementation of this scheme will ensure that traffic rules are not violated, and any violation will be automatically traced by cameras, leading to the issuance of an e-challan delivered to the violator’s doorstep. Moreover, alert messages will be sent to vehicles parked on the wrong side or in no-parking zones, and appropriate action can be taken against them by issuing a challan.

In addition, this scheme is crucial from a security point of view as monitoring can be conducted through cameras installed in various parts of the city. Even during emergencies, this system can facilitate better operations. Under the ITMS project, Bilaspur Smart City Limited has established an Integrated Command and Control Room in the Tarbahar Police Station area to monitor and control the traffic system and other arrangements through special cameras installed throughout the city. This room will monitor the entire city. Additionally, an interim center for the Integrated Command and Control Center has been established on the second floor of the Smart City office under the ITMS project, said the officials.

Command and Control Center

An integrated command and control room has been constructed in an area of approximately 40,000 square feet within the Tarbahar Police Station compound. In addition to the ground floor, three more floors have been built, with the command and control room being operated from the ground floor up to the second floor. The office of the police department’s cyber cell is located on the third floor. The command and control room includes a display room, server room, backup room, meeting hall, conference hall, technical room, and a training room.
