Raipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Chhattisgarh on 7 February for a two-day visit to review the internal security situation and oversee anti-Naxal operations. The visit is significant as it comes ahead of the 31 March 2026 deadline set by the Centre to eliminate Naxalism from the country.
According to the official schedule, the Home Minister will reach Raipur on Saturday night after concluding a three-day tour of Jammu and Kashmir. On Sunday, 8 February, he will chair a high-level security review meeting in the state capital. Senior officials from the Union Home Ministry, central paramilitary forces, and state police from Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Odisha are expected to attend.
The meeting is being viewed by security agencies as a decisive session to finalise the operational roadmap for the final two months leading up to the deadline. Discussions will focus on progress of ongoing intelligence-based operations in the Bastar division, inter-state coordination, and the status of four senior Maoist leaders currently on the radar of security agencies.
Following the review meeting in Raipur, the Home Minister will travel to Bastar to attend the closing ceremony of the Pandum Mahotsav. The tribal cultural festival, celebrating local traditions and heritage, was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu earlier this week.
Reports suggest that Amit Shah may also conduct a field visit to sensitive areas in the Bastar region to interact with security personnel and gather ground-level feedback. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed state authorities to ensure all arrangements are in place for the high-profile visit.
The Home Minister had previously visited the region on 4 October 2025 during the Bastar Dussehra festivities. Security has been heightened across the state, particularly in LWE-affected districts, ahead of the visit.
