Raipur – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Bilaspur, on Friday arrested four public servants in two separate trap operations in Janjgir district for allegedly accepting bribes.
CSPDCL officials caught in trap
In the first case, ACB apprehended three officials from the Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) office in Janjgir. The accused have been identified as Assistant Engineer Vijay Norge, Sub-Engineer Rajendra Shukla, and Assistant Grade-1 staff Devendra Rathore.
Pradeep Yadav, a resident of Janjgir, filed a complaint stating he planned to set up a fly ash bricks plant in Khoksa village. Despite paying for the transformer and meter installation, Rajendra Shukla allegedly demanded ₹10,000, while Vijay Norge and Devendra Rathore demanded ₹25,000 for the same work.
Acting on the complaint, ACB officials organized a trap operation on 20 March 2026. Rajendra Shukla was caught red-handed accepting ₹10,000, while Vijay Norge and Devendra Rathore were caught taking ₹25,000.
Accountant arrested for taking commission
The second operation took place in Nawagarh, where Prakash Jaiswal, an accountant at Nawagarh Nagar Panchayat, was arrested for taking a bribe.

The complainant, Abdul Wahab, stated that his firm had completed infrastructure and repair works in the Nawagarh Nagar Panchayat area during the 2024-25 financial year.
Jaiswal reportedly demanded ₹16,000 to release a cheque of ₹2,03,000. The accused had already taken ₹6,000 as advance. During verification, he agreed to accept ₹8,000 as the final instalment.
ACB caught Jaiswal red-handed while receiving the second instalment of ₹8,000 on Friday.
Legal proceedings against all four accused are being initiated under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (amended 2018).
