Chhattisgarh Cabinet approves key decisions on crop procurement, governance restructuring, and housing rules

Raipur

The Chhattisgarh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mahanadi Bhawan on Thursday, approved a series of major policy decisions ranging from agricultural procurement, administrative restructuring, housing, and sports infrastructure management.

Price Support Scheme for Pulses and Oilseeds to Continue

The cabinet decided to continue procurement of pulses and oilseeds during the upcoming Kharif and Rabi marketing seasons under the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (Price Support Scheme—PSS).

Under this scheme, crops such as arhar, moong, urad, groundnut, and soybean are procured at Minimum Support Price (MSP) during Kharif, while gram, mustard, and lentil are procured during Rabi. Officials noted that MSP-based procurement in state mandis helps maintain market competitiveness and ensures better price realisation for farmers.

Administrative Restructuring to Enhance Governance

In a significant move, the cabinet approved amendments to the Chhattisgarh Government (Allocation of Business) Rules.

Key changes include:

  • The Public Undertakings Department will now be merged with the Commerce and Industries Department.
  • The Twenty-Point Programme Implementation Department will be merged with the Planning, Economics and Statistics Department.

According to the government, this restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency and advance the goal of “minimum government, maximum governance.”

₹15,000-Crore Guarantee for Paddy Procurement Extended

To ensure smooth paddy procurement during the 2025–26 Kharif marketing season, the cabinet approved revalidation of the existing government guarantee of ₹15,000 crore provided to banks and financial institutions for the 2024–25 cycle.

Additionally, the Chhattisgarh State Marketing Federation will receive an enhanced government guarantee of ₹11,200 crore to support upcoming procurement operations.

Relaxed Rules for Sale of EWS/LIG Housing Units

The cabinet approved amendments to the eligibility conditions for housing under schemes such as Deendayal Awas Yojana, Atal Awas Yojana, Atal Vihar Yojana, and Nava Raipur Chief Minister Housing Scheme.

Key provisions:

Sale of unsold EWS/LIG units:
If units remain unsold after three rounds of advertisement, they may be sold to beneficiaries from any income group. Subsidies will be available only to beneficiaries from the originally designated category.

Bulk purchase allowed:
If unsold units persist after three advertisements, bulk purchase proposals from individuals, government/semi-government bodies or private organisations may be accepted. Multiple units may be allotted to a single purchaser, but no subsidies will be given.

The government will also run extensive publicity campaigns for wider awareness.

Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium to Be Leased to CSCA

The cabinet approved leasing the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Nava Raipur to the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association (CSCA) for long-term operations, management, and development.

Officials said this will improve training, technical facilities, and exposure for budding players, and may boost the chances of hosting more national and international cricket events in the state.
