CM Vishnu Deo Sai Chairs Unified Command Meeting, Reviews Anti-Naxal Strategy and Development Works

Raipur
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Unified Command at the Circuit House in Nava Raipur, focusing on a twin agenda—intensifying anti-Naxal operations and accelerating development works in conflict-affected areas.
The Unified Command is the apex decision-making body that coordinates between the state police, paramilitary forces, and central security agencies for counter-insurgency operations in Chhattisgarh. It plays a crucial role in balancing security measures with welfare initiatives in Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-hit regions, particularly in Bastar and adjoining districts.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of recent anti-Naxal offensives, deployment patterns of security forces, and the operational use of modern technology such as UAVs, satellite surveillance, and road-opening parties to ensure safer movement of forces and civilians. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination between state police and central forces to sustain the pressure on Maoist cadres.
Alongside security issues, the discussions also covered infrastructure and development projects in insurgency-hit areas, including expansion of road connectivity, strengthening of health and education facilities, and livelihood opportunities for tribal communities. The Chief Minister reiterated that development and security must go hand in hand to bring lasting peace in the state.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Kumar Pingua, and Secretary to the CM Rahul Bhagat.
Senior officials from the CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, CISF, Indian Air Force, and Chhattisgarh Police also participated, presenting field-level updates and strategies to counter Maoist influence.
The Unified Command meeting comes against the backdrop of a renewed push by the Chhattisgarh government to consolidate recent gains in Bastar, where several key Maoist leaders have been neutralized in operations over the past year. The government is also seeking to fast-track projects under the Bastar Development Plan, aimed at bridging gaps in governance and delivering state services to remote tribal villages.
Chief Minister Sai, addressing the officials, stressed that restoring confidence among local communities remains as important as tactical victories on the ground. “Security forces and administration must work as partners to ensure peace, prosperity, and justice for every citizen,” he said, underlining the state’s commitment to a holistic approach combining security and development.
