Radhika Khera Sends Notice, Challenges former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, CPCC president Deepak Baij
Raipur
BJP leader Radhika Khera has stated, “I want to make it clear that my mother has not done any government work in Chhattisgarh, not even for a single rupee.”
She is caught in a growing controversy over allegations involving her mother’s company and its dealings with the government. She has sent a legal notice to Chhattisgarh Congress President Deepak Baij and spokesperson Vandana Rajput. Additionally, she has challenged Baij and former CM Bhupesh Baghel.
Radhika declared that if Bhupesh Baghel and Baij provide evidence within 48 hours that the government paid her mother’s company, she will quit politics. She further stated that if they fail to meet this challenge, Baghel and Baij should also resign from their positions.
The Congress had earlier alleged that during Bhupesh Baghel’s tenure, her mother’s company made some promotional films for the government and profited from it. They claimed that there were pending bills, leading to a dispute with Congress leaders after the government changed, which is why she left the party.
Radhika clarified that her mother is a filmmaker and had only sought permission to shoot a documentary on the Ram Van Gaman Path at a protected site. No financial compensation was requested. She demanded a public apology from Baij and his associates for falsely accusing her mother.
Radhika questioned why the Congress made baseless allegations against her, suggesting it was because she exposed what happened to her and subsequently left the party. She accused Congress of spreading false rumours to tarnish her reputation.
Radhika firmly stated that Congress officials were spreading lies about her mother’s bills being held up by the Chhattisgarh government, implying that this was why she joined the BJP. She clarified, “My mother has not undertaken any government work in Chhattisgarh, not even for a single rupee.”
She had previously remarked, “If I was wrong, the party would have expelled me, but no action was taken against me for a week after I filed my complaint.”
On September 9, Radhika Khera held a press conference where she stated that Congress could not even deliver justice to the women in their own ranks, yet they questioned the law and order situation in Chhattisgarh. She labeled Bhupesh Baghel as anti-women.
In response, Congress spokesperson Vandana Rajput stated that no misconduct occurred with Radhika. Rajput alleged that Radhika was concerned about her mother’s company’s documentary bill for the Chandkhuri project, which led her to conspire and make false accusations against senior Congress leaders.
On May 5, 2024, Radhika Khera resigned from Congress, where she was serving as a national spokesperson. The conflict reportedly began over who would give media statements on various political issues, leading to a verbal spat between Radhika and state Congress leaders.
Radhika claimed she was mistreated by Sushil Anand Shukla, and when no action was taken against him, she joined the BJP. Shukla later stated that no wrongdoing had occurred with Radhika.
