Sachin Pilot is new in-charge of Chhattisgarh Congress

Raipur
Senior Congress leader from Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, has been appointed as the new in-charge of Chhattisgarh Congress after the party suffered a defeat at the hands of the BJP in the 2023 assembly elections. He has replaced Kumari Selja, who had faced criticism from within the party leaders in Chhattisgarh, just 20 days after the election results.

Following the elections, local leaders and former legislators consistently voiced concerns against Kumari Selja. Selja was appointed as the Congress in-charge in December 2022, succeeding P.L. Punia. Allegations were also levied against Selja regarding the exchange of money for tickets.
After Congress’s significant defeat in Chhattisgarh, several former legislators initiated opposition against Selja. Serious allegations, including financial transactions and the widespread dissemination of audio-video content, were made against her. Furthermore, continuous questions arose regarding Selja’s role in ticket distribution. Legislators whose tickets were revoked complained to various leaders in Delhi, and many former legislators demanded an investigation against Selja.
Pilot is renowned for his aggressive leadership style. The Congress believes that individuals like him are essential for Chhattisgarh, hence his assignment there.
Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, congratulated the new party in-charge. He wrote on social media, “Congratulations and best wishes to Congress General Secretary Sachin Pilot ji on his appointment as the in-charge of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee. Congratulations to former in-charge Kumari Selja on being appointed as the in-charge of Uttarakhand. Grateful for your services in Chhattisgarh.”
