Member of Parliament Vijay Baghel to contest from Patna, the home constituency of chief minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Raipur, 1 hour agoThe main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for 21 seats in Chhattisgarh with just three months ahead of assembly elections. Among them, Vijay Baghel, the Member of Parliament from Durg, has been fielded in the Patan constituency which is the home constituency of chief minister Bhupesh baghel. After being named as a candidate, Baghel stated that they will give Congress a tough fight with the blessings of the people.Out of the 21 seats, 10 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, and one seat is reserved for the Scheduled Caste category. On Wednesday, the BJP’s central election committee held a marathon meeting. During the meeting in Delhi, discussions were held with several leaders from Chhattisgarh, including former chief minister and BJP national vice president Dr Raman Singh, BJP state president Arun Sao, and opposition leader Narayan Chandel. Following this, the announcement of 21 names was made on Thursday.Regarding the Kharsia seat, Mahesh Sahu has been nominated, replacing former IAS officer OP Choudhary, who was defeated by Congress candidate Umesh Patel in the last election. Patel received 94 thousand votes.Bhupesh Baghel is Vijay Baghel’s relative and is seen as his nephew. This election will be a clash between the uncle (Kaka) and the nephew (Bhatija). BJP has also appointed Vijay Baghel as the convener of the declaration committee. Ram Vichar Netam has also been given a ticket.
