Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel hits out at BJP for intentional mention of Manipur along with Chhattisgarh

Raipur Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the central government for ‘deliberately’ linking Chhattisgarh’s name with Manipur during a discussion in Parliament. In a media interaction in Raipur, Baghel stated that this tactic is aimed at diverting people’s attention. He emphasized that the incidents that occurred in Chhattisgarh cannot be compared to those in Manipur. The intention behind mentioning Manipur along with Chhattisgarh is to target two states at once due to the upcoming elections, but it seems to have backfired. During parliamentary proceedings, Central Minister Smriti Irani also mentioned Chhattisgarh in response to questions regarding the Manipur incident. Another notable point raised by Baghel is that the Human Rights team has not visited Manipur yet. He urged that if they can visit Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, they should also extend their visit to Manipur. The chief minister accused the Central government of attempting to divert attention by focusing on who circulated the viral video, suggesting an attempt to twist the narrative. Furthermore, a delegation of the I.N.D.I.A, comprising 20 MPs, is now heading to Manipur, and both Houses of Parliament continue to be disturbed by the situation. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to avoid obstinacy and address both Houses of Parliament on the matter. CM Bhupesh Baghel called upon the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party to learn from Manipur’s Governor Anusuiya Uikey. The Governor had stated on record that more than 50,000 people have been displaced from their homes, hundreds of houses have been burned down, more than 100 people have lost their lives, and heinous acts like rapes and nudity have been reported, causing unprecedented distress to the people. Governor Anusuiya Uikey had also submitted her report to the Central government, but despite that, no substantial action has been taken, leading to an escalation of incidents. \Regarding the Safety of Former MLAs Bhupesh Baghel addressed the issue of security being removed from former MLAs of the BJP, stating that a review of their security measures has been conducted. He emphasized that there is no discrimination involved in this matter. During the recent unified command meeting, he had directed all paramilitary forces and agencies of the Indian government to provide security to all politicians. \Flood Situation in Bastar The Chief Minister mentioned that the rainfall in Bastar has been relatively low as the monsoon arrived late. People in the region have been eagerly awaiting the rains. In response to the potential flood situation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and disaster management teams have been deployed, and the district administration is closely monitoring the situation.
