Chhattisgarh Congress stage dharna against Gujarat HC decision on Rahul Gandhi in Modi Surname case

Raipur Hours after the Gujarat High Court declared the conviction of Rahul Gandhi as just, proper and legal in Modi surname case, rejecting the review petition, Chhattisgarh Congress staged a dharna in Raipur on Friday to oppose the court verdict. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel , Deputy Chief Minister T S Singhdeo, PCC chief Mohan Markam and other senior party leaders participated in the dharna staged at Ambedkar Chowk in Raipur. Congress state In-charge Secretary Chandan Yadav was also present. Earlier in May this year, Gujarat HC reserved its order on Rahul Gandhi’s plea seeking a stay on his conviction in the 2019 ‘Modi surname’ defamation case. The court refused to grant any interim relief to Rahul Gandh. During the 2019 Lok Sabha campaign, Rahul Gandhi made a remark on Modi surname that led to the filing of a criminal defamation case against him.
