Rural and Cottage Industries Policy-2022: Employment opportunities to increase in the Rural areas with the expansion of Small cottage industries

Raipur: As a result of the successful implementation of the new industrial policy, single window system and adequate availability of raw materials in Chhattisgarh, the progress of industrial development has gained momentum in the state.
The state’s New Industrial Policy 2019-24, which was initiated by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has successfully attracted numerous investors. Over the last four years, 2,218 new industries have been established across the state, with more than INR 21,457 crore invested in these industries, creating over 40,000 job opportunities. Furthermore, to continue supporting economic growth, the Government of Chhattisgarh has implemented the Rural and Cottage Industries Policy-2022, which aims to provide employment opportunities to the rural populace through small cottage industries in rural areas, thus increasing their incomes.
Rural cottage industry policy will increase employment opportunities and make villages prosperous
Under the promotion of rural and cottage industries in the state, approval has been given to establish 300 Rural Industrial parks to be built at a cost of Rs 600 crore. A target has also been set to establish a rural industrial park in every gram panchayat within 5 years. Small investors are being encouraged to venture into the service sector through this policy. The development blocks where rural and cottage industries are traditionally prevalent, are being classified as high-priority development blocks and are being given more grants than usual. It is noteworthy that, to get a subsidy under this policy, it is not necessary to establish the unit in rural areas, the work of setting up urban industrial parks is also being done in urban areas.
Traditional artists to get a new market, their income will increase
The traditional arts of the state such as handloom weaving, bee keeping, lac rearing, herb collection, bell metal artifacts, Dhokra craft, bamboo craft, products made from cow dung and cow urine, products made from forest produce, incense sticks, candle making, tailoring, weaving etc will be deemed as high priority and special incentives will be given to these industries. Under this policy, there is a provision to give 10 percent additional incentive to women, Scheduled Castes ,and Scheduled Tribes. Arrangements will also be made for imparting training in suitable technology for the expansion of rural and cottage industries and suitable technology for the future in ITI, Polytechnic etc.
