9 Dead, 27 Injured in Two Separate Bus Accidents in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: At least nine people, including women and a child, lost their lives and 27 others were injured in two separate bus accidents in Jashpur and Bhatapara districts on Friday.

Jashpur Bus Tragedy

In the first incident in Jashpur district, five passengers died when a private bus overturned and crashed into an under-construction house near Godaamba village. The bus, carrying around 25 passengers, was traveling from Kurdeg in Jharkhand to Kunkuri in Chhattisgarh.

According to Tapkara police, the driver lost control due to high speed. Local residents and police personnel rescued passengers trapped inside the wreckage. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kunkuri for treatment. A child is among the deceased.

Truck-Bus Collision in Bhatapara

In the second accident, four people, including two women, a child, and an elderly man, died after a truck rammed into an RBS Company bus on the National Highway near Durchura village in Balodabazar-Bhatapara district.

The bus, traveling from Raipur to Bilaspur with over 35 passengers, suffered severe damage. More than 15 passengers are reported to be in critical condition. Simga police led rescue operations and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Investigations into the causes of both accidents are currently underway.

Separate Incident: Watchman Killed by Truck in Balod

In another tragic event on the Dalli Rajhara-Bhanupratappur main road in Balod district, a speeding 14-tyre truck crushed a moped rider to death. The victim, a forest department watchman, was returning with medicinal herbs when the truck hit his vehicle.

The impact caused the moped to lodge under the truck’s front wheels, dragging the victim for nearly 50 meters before stopping near the Ram temple. Police have registered a case against the truck driver.
