CGBSE Board Exams from February 20; Class 10 Registrations Dip

Raipur

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has completed the registration process for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations 2025.

A significant trend has been observed this year: Class 10 registrations have dropped, while Class 12 registrations have increased.

The total number of registered Class 10 students is 11,478 less than those registered for Class 12. The Board has already started preparations for the examinations. The practical examinations for both classes will be conducted starting 1 January.

The CGBSE has recorded 3,23,705 registrations for Class 10 this year, including 3,16,947 regular and 6,758 private candidates, marking a decline of 5,011 students from last year’s 3,28,716 registrations.
Meanwhile, Class 12 has logged 2,46,889 registrations, comprising 2,39,314 regular and 7,575 private students, reflecting an increase of 6,467 candidates compared to last year’s 2,40,422 registrations.

In a major shift, the board examinations will begin earlier, with the schedule advanced from the traditional March 1 start to February 20. Consequently, practical exams will be held 10 days earlier, starting January 1, and the CGBSE has already released the detailed timetable.

The board has introduced a new blueprint for Classes 10 and 12 after nearly a decade, aligning the examination pattern with the National Education Policy (NEP). The 2025 exams will be conducted under this revised structure, under which each written paper will now carry 80 marks instead of 100, with 20 marks allotted to project work. Question papers will feature five MCQs and five very short-answer questions, while project work has been made mandatory for all subjects in Classes 11 and 12.

Last year, the overall pass percentage stood at 76.53% for Class 10 and 81.87% for Class 12, setting the benchmark ahead of the upcoming examination cycle.
