Centuries from Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad powered India to a commanding 358/5 in 50 overs against South Africa in the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.
Chasing 359, South Africa lost an early wicket as Quinton de Kock fell for 8 runs. At the time of this update, Aiden Markram and Tony de Zorzi were at the crease.
Kohli, Gaikwad Hit Hundreds
Virat Kohli smashed his 53rd ODI century (and 84th international century) scoring 102 off 93 balls before being caught by Markram off Lungi Ngidi. He celebrated the milestone with his signature leap and a kiss to his wedding ring.
Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden ODI century, a superb 105-run knock. He played a crucial role in stabilising the innings. Kohli and Gaikwad stitched a massive 195-run partnership for the third wicket, which ended when Gaikwad was caught by De Zorzi off Marco Jansen.
After their dismissals, KL Rahul (66)* and Ravindra Jadeja (24)* added an unbeaten fifty-run partnership, pushing India past the 350-run mark. It was Rahul’s second consecutive ODI fifty.
