SIR survey to strengthen democratic values: Brijmohan Agrawal

Raipur

Member of Parliament (MP) Brijmohan Agrawal welcomed the Election Commission of India’s decision to start the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) survey in Chhattisgarh and 11 other states, stating the move strengthens the roots of democracy.

The MP said an accurate and updated voter list is the foundation for transparent and impartial elections, and this initiative will prove to be a milestone in that direction.

MP Agrawal pointed to the success of this process in Bihar, which shows that prioritising transparency and a technology-based system can minimise errors in the voter list. He expressed confidence that the SIR survey in Chhattisgarh will make voter registration more accurate, which will, in turn, fortify the representative system.

He stressed that every citizen’s participation in the democratic process is paramount. Agrawal urged all eligible citizens to verify their names in the voter list and those whose names are not yet included to register quickly. He said this participation empowers democracy and gives a voice to every section of society.
