21 Maoist cadres surrender in Kanker, deposit 18 weapons

In a significant success for the ‘Poona Margham: Rehabilitation through Reintegration‘ initiative, 21 Maoist cadres from the Keshkal Division (North Sub Zonal Bureau) surrendered and joined the social mainstream in Kanker district, Bastar Range, today, 26 October 2025.
The cadres, who belonged to the Kuemari/Kiskodo Area Committee, surrendered with a total of 18 weapons. Among those who gave up violence was Mukesh, the Division Committee Secretary.
Of the 21 cadres, 13 were women and 8 were men. The group comprised 4 Division Vice Committee Members (DVCMs), 9 Area Committee Members (ACMs), and 8 Party Members. They chose to abandon the armed and violent ideology to adopt the path of peace and progress.
The surrendered arms cache includes:
- Three AK-47 rifles
- Four SLR rifles
- Two INSAS rifles
- Six .303 rifles
- Two single-shot rifles
- One BGL weapon
Authorities are carrying out the necessary legal procedures for the rehabilitation and reintegration of these 21 cadres into society.
