208 Maoists surrender in Jagdalpur; Central Committee Member among them

Raipur
A total of 210 Maoists surrendered before the police in Jagdalpur today, handing over their weapons. The group included 140 Maoists who surrendered in Bastar on Thursday and about 60 others who had earlier surrendered in Kanker.
The surrendered Maoists were presented with copies of the Constitution of India and a rose during a ceremony at the Police Lines.
Central Committee Member (CCM) Satish, also known as T. Vasudev Rao alias Rupesh, was brought to the venue in a separate car. Rupesh, who was active in the Abujhmad Division, carried a bounty of ₹1 crore, while the other Maoists had bounties ranging from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
The Maoists arrived at the surrender venue in three buses, with the number of women cadres exceeding that of men. They surrendered AK-47s, INSAS rifles, SLRs, and .303 rifles.
Many of the surrendering Maoists, along with their leaders, first reached Uspari Ghat on the Indravati River, from where they were brought by boat to the Bijapur Police. All were then formally registered for surrender together in Jagdalpur.
Chhattisgarh DGP Arun Dev Gautam said that the misguided youth were fighting in the name of the people of Bastar, but later realised they were harming them instead of helping. He said that Bastar’s progress had been stalled for years, and with collective effort, the region would now move forward.
