The Winter Session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly will start on Monday. The session is likely to be stormy with opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to corner the State government over varied issues. 

The 12th Session of the 5th Vidhan Sabha will have five sittings from December 13 to 17, as per the notification issued by Principal Secretary Chandrashekhar Gangrade. There will be discussion regarding several bills including, the Supplementary Budget.

Meanwhile, BJP might corner the state government. Apart from the main opposition BJP, Janta Congress Chhattisgarh-Jogi (JCC-J) has chalked out strategies to attack the state government on varied issues.

The BJP had already objected to the curtailment of the session, which was countered by the ruling party leader and parliamentary affairs minister Ravindra Choubey citing Winter Session traditionally remains 5-6 days.

Congress may bring topics like, Godhan Nyay Yojana and Rajiv Gandhi Yuva Mitan Club.

Meanwhile, the Leader of Opposition, Dharamlal Kaushik, said that the BJP is fully prepared. The Opposition will utilize every second of the proceedings of the Assembly and demand discussion on Adjournment Motion, Call Attention Motion. Issues of the Kawardha incident and the way state government handled it, conversion, corruption and irregularities rampant at procurement centres, exploitation of farmers, deteriorating law order will be raised during the proceedings of the Assembly session, said Kaushik. Kaushik said that dacoity, rape, murder and kidnapping have increased manifold in the state. Further, the BJP is likely to raise the issue of the formation of a new inquiry commission on the Jhiram Ghaati.

The Opposition is repeatedly accusing the state government of protecting conversion. On the other hand, Congress is also continuously targeting the BJP, alleging that there have been more conversions during the BJP regime.
