Raipur:Congress party claimed all the 6 Nagar Panchayatswent to poll on December 20 after counting of votes was held on Thursday, December 23. Similarly, the ruling party won 3 Municipal Councils out of total five Municipal Councils went to poll. The BJP won Municipal Council Jamul only. 

The ruling Congress emerged as largest party in four Municipal Corporations – BirgaonBhilaiRisali and Charoda

According to Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, Congress won all 15 wards of Nagar PanchayatBhopalpatnam, 11 wards of Nagar PanchayatBhairamgarh, 9 wards of Nagar Panchayat Maro, 11 wards of Nagar Panchayat Premnagar, 14 wards of Nagar Panchyayat Konta and 11 wards of Nagar Panchayat Narharpur

The BJP could not open account in Nagar PanchayatBhopalpatnam. The BJP has won 4 wards of Nagar Panchayat Bhairamgarh, 5 wards of Nagar PanchayatMaro, 2 wards of Nagar Panchayat Premnagar, 1 ward of Nagar Panchayat Konta and 4 wards of Nagar Panchayat Narharpur

The Congress bagged 8 wards of Municipal Council Shivpurcharcha, 10 wards of Municipal Council Khairagarh, 6 wards of Municipal Council Jamul, 11 wards of Municipal Council Baikunthpur and 11 wards of Municipal Council Sarangarh. The BJP has secured 5 wards of Municipal Council Shivpurcharcha, 10 wards of Municipal Council Khairagarh, 10 wards of Municipal Council Jamul, 7 wards of Municipal Council Baikunthpur and 3 wards of Municipal Council Sarangarh. The Congress candidates won in 19 wards out of 40 in Municipal Corporation Birgaonopposition BJP won 10 wards.  The Congress party was leading in Municipal Corporation CharodaBhilaiand Risali.

BJP candidate Neelbati Shiv Samrath defeated Congress candidate Nildhar Samrath by one vote from Ward 7 of Nagar Panchayat BhairamgarhNeelbatiShiv Samrath polled 103 votes while Congress candidate Nildhar Samrath polled 102 votes. Congress candidate Sumit Tandia defeated BJP candidate KailashNagre by one vote in the ward 4 of Municipal Council Khairagarh.

The counting of votes for 385 wards began at 28 counting centres in the state on Thursday and by-polls for 15 wards commenced from 9 am. At several counting centres the atmosphere was hot as Congress and BJP supporters exchanged hot words.
