CM asks collectors, SPs for surprise inspection of government hostels

Raipur:Taking a serious note of alleged rape and molestation of differently-abled children at Samarth Divyang Kendra in Jashpur district, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel asked all the district collectors and superintendents of police (SPs) to ensure frequent surprise inspection of government hostels coming under their respective jurisdiction.

The Chief Minister directed all the district collectors to deploy District Education Officers, Assistant Commissioners of Tribal Development, and other senior district level officers for the inspection of government hostels.

During the inspection, the inspecting officer will interact with the children living in the hostel and take feedback related to the activities conducted in the hostel, and present reports to their higher authorities.

The Chief Minister further said that if any officer or employee working in government hostels is found negligent in discharging his/her duties or is found to be involved in immoral activities during the inspection, immediate action should be taken against such officials/employees.

The Chief Minister said that strict action should be ensured against officers and employees who are negligent in discharging their duties or indulge in unethical activities so that untoward incidents do not occur in the future.

It is to be mentioned, employees posted at the Kendra allegedly raped a child and molested other children at the midnight. A complaint regarding this was filed by a woman sweeper in the Kotwali police station of Jashpur.
