Raipur: Hitting out at the Narendra Modi-led central government, Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel today alleged that the centre is playing dirty politics and creating hurdles in the path of Congress-led government in the state.

“I have been constantly raising issues of the state before centre by writing letters to the Prime Minister and his cabinet colleagues, but in vain”, said the chief minister speaking at a programme in New Delhi. 

He also took a jibe at centre questioning the non availability of gunny bags. He said that the central government is not even giving permission to make ethanol.

Replying to a question on how Chhattisgarh model is different from Gujarat Model, the chief minister took a jibe at “the Gujarat model”, saying “Till date no one has understood what the Gujarat model is? Now even BJP people don’t talk about it. Investment is not visible anywhere in the country, poverty, malnutrition, unemployment has increased in last seven years,” he said.

Explaining the Chhattisgarh model, the chief minister we have focused on boosting the income of people and has always worked for the welfare of every section of society. “This began with farm loan waivers reducing the burden of farmers. Chhattisgarh was the first state to procure paddy at the highest MSP of Rs 2,500 per quintal. This resulted in the increase of income of the people, increased purchasing power,” Baghel said. 

The chief minister maintained that Chhattisgarh has witnessed growth in every sector in the last three years, be it textile, automobile or real estate. He said that even during the pandemic there was no effect of economic slowdown on the state. He added that his government has not only purchased paddy but also given input subsidies of Rs 7,000 crores to the farmers, which led to a steady increase in the income of the farmers.

Replying to a question on the upcoming UP assembly polls, the chief minister said that the organizational structure of Congress has become stronger in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi and the election results will be shocking.
