Collector takes cognizance of the matter after receiving complaints from both the sides.
A woman member of Mungeli Jila Panchayatreportedly showed chappal to District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Rohit Vyas and followed him to beat.
Sources said that the member Laila NankuBhikhari went to the chamber of the CEO for some work on Thursday afternoon, but the CEO reportedly refused to do the same terming the work as not genuine.
The eyewitnesses reportedly saw the jilapanchayat member removing her chappal and showing it to the CEO. As the chamber of the CEO was not equipped with CCTV cameras and a woman member was inside, the CEO did not want to take any chance and thus he rushed out of the chamber and started running. The woman member reportedly ran after the CEO showing the chappal.
The woman member then complained to the SP that the CEO used to misbehave with the panchayat members with their caste.
Sources said that the CEO also complained the matter to the SP. Collector of Mungeli district Ajeet Basant said that he has received oral complaints of the incident from both the CEO and the Jila Panchayat and he will examine it.
Meanwhile, the entire bureaucrats of the state were shocked with the incident. Reports last came in said that a delegation of IAS Association will meet the Chief Secretary over the issue. A senior IAS reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the incident and said that it will be difficult to work in such environment. It is said that the husband of the women member is a contractor in jila panchayat.
