Raipur. The 12th Session of the Fifth Vidhan Sabha is from December 13 to 17, 2017. The five-day winter session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly is likely to be stormy as the opposition has tightened its belt to corner the state government over numerous issues. The burning issues are Kawardha violence, JhiramGhati Inquiry Commission report submission to the Governor and state government’s opposition to it, death of tribals and suicide by farmers.

According to the notification issued by the Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh Assembly, Chandra Shekhar Gangrade, the winter session of the Assembly will have five sittings. The supplementary budget is on the second day of the Session on December 14. Besides, various other issues, including departmental works, were disposed of, according to information.

The first day, i.e., December 13, will be adjourned soon after paying tributes to the departed soul of sitting MLA Devvrat Singh. The state government will bring a supplementary budget on the second day of the winter session.

However, the state government will find it difficult to ensure smooth proceedings of the Assembly with the main opposition BJP is planning to bring adjournment motions over the Kawardha violence issue and the state government’s alleged biased action in the case. Other opposition parties such as JCC-J may also join the BJP on it. The Opposition parties may create a stir forcing the government to end the session within three-four days.
