Two AI projects of Chhattisgarh students among 60 selected by Government of India
The Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, has released the result of the competition organised under its AI for Youth programme. Two projects of Chhattisgarh among 60, across the country, got selected for the third stage of the competition.
Parmeshwari Yadav, a student of Government Kuldeep Nigam Higher Secondary School, Narra in Mahasamund district, developed a project which will help recognize problems in agriculture sector. Two other students of the same school Vaibhav Kumar Dewangan and Dheeraj Yadaw prepared a project that will help identify weeds grown in the crops.
The school lecturer Subodh Kumar Tiwari had helped these students learn Artificial Intelligence techniques during lockdown and the students made projects using this technique for the convenience of the farmers the state.
Parmeshwari Yadav, daughter of a farmer who resides in a village, developed a software with the help of artificial intelligence technology to detect the diseases in paddy crops at the right time and suggest medicines for treatment. With the help of this technology, farmers will get to know about the disease of the crop in the early stage as well as get suitable suggestion for remedy. Similarly, Vaibhav Kumar Dewangan and Dheeraj Yadaw, both sons of farmers, have developed software to identify weeds growing between crops using artificial intelligence technology.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology conducts the competition for students of government schools of the country.
Basically artificial intelligence is such a study, in which such software is developed, so that a computer can respond like a human and better than a human.
A total of 52628 students were registered for the competition. In the first phase, 11466 students took training. 2536 teachers took training from 35 states of the country. 2704 ideas were submitted from 2441 students from all over the country. The result of the first phase was released on January 12, 2021, in which the list of 125 students for the second phase was released. On the eve of Children’s Day, on November 13, the list of top 60 results was released, in which two projects of government school Narra in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh state were selected.
After giving training to the selected students for the third phase, their ideas will be moulded into the working prototype. They will be interviewed online by an expert in Artificial Intelligence and the top 30 of them will be declared the finalists in the third stage. The winners will be invited to showcase their projects at a special event in Delhi.
