The tap connection process will be simplified and now will become a ‘faceless process’

Raipur: Realizing the vision of “Garhbo Nava Chhattisgarh”, the Chhattisgarh Government is continuously expanding the facilities being provided to the citizens. Because of the online processes, ‘all services’ will be available at doorsteps while sitting at home. In the following sequence of ‘faceless service’ for obtaining a new tap connection, now citizens will no longer need to visit the respected offices. Citizens will now get a new connection while sitting at home.

According to the current process for obtaining a new connection, citizens have to make a map of tap connections through a corporation registered plumber and then submit it to the Corporation office. Along with this, the Consumer under income tax category and non-income tax category currently are paying Rs.5000 and Rs.2000 respectively as security deposit and a minimum of Rs.500 as processing fee while standing in a line at Corporation office. Due to this complex and tiring process, consumers are facing challenges in submitting applications for new connections.

To make urban bodies ‘tanker free’, work is being done on various central and state-sponsored schemes by the state government. Through these schemes, the expansion of new pipeline network and increasing water-holding capacities scheme is also in progress. 

Along with this, people are now regularising their illegal tap connections by contacting urban local body offices. It is noteworthy that within 15 days after receiving instruction from Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel building permission process without human intervention has started for the size of a plot up to 500 square meters.

In the following sequence, the construction of the portal is in progress for the process of online application, fee payment and plumber registration. The target of February 25, 2022 has been set by the department for this work. Rules and procedures are being prepared by the Urban Local Body Department for process simplification, plumber registration etc. Simplification of the process of plumber registration will also provide new employment opportunities to unemployed young citizens.
