Stall of Chhattisgarh Herbals bags first place in International Herbal Fair held in Bhopal

The stall of “Chhattisgarh Herbals” bagged first place in the 8th
International Herbal Fair held in Bhopal from December 22 to 26.

The
stall was set up by Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading &
Development) Co-operative Federation Limited under the guidance of Chief
Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Forest and Climate Change Minister Mohammad Akbar.
The stall was among most popular attractions of visitors at the fair.

Chhattisgarh
state’s indigenous brand “Chhattisgarh Herbals” made an impressive presence in
the International Herbal Fair. More than 120 organic certified products of
Chhattisgarh Herbals were displayed at the fair. The Forest Minister of Madhya
Pradesh also visited the stall of Chhattisgarh Herbals and appreciated the work
of the federation and its products. In the buyer-seller conference held on
December 23 in the fair, contracts worth about Rs one crore were signed for the
wholesale sale of raw minor forest produce of the state including ‘Harra
Kacharia’, ‘Bahera Kacharia’, ‘Sabut Harra’, ‘Sabut Bahera’ and ‘Kalmegh’.
Meanwhile, other renowned entrepreneurs also showed keen interest in the
products and raw materials and showed willingness to proceed with the further
contracts.

Besides,
efforts are also being made to expand the sales chain of Chhattisgarh Herbals
in the state of Madhya Pradesh and other major cities of the country. Officials
of Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading & Development)
Co-operative Federation Limited informed that the collection of minor forest
produce used in the manufacture of products of Chhattisgarh Herbals is done by
the tribal and other rural communities living in and around the forests of the
state. The majority of these collectors are women. After the primary processing
of these minor forest produce collected from the forests, it is brought to the
Van-Dhan Kendras, where the work of processing and value addition is done to
further produce high-quality products. These products are sold through
“Sanjeevani Selling Center” and online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart. More
than 7000 women self-help groups are working in this work of collection,
processing, and value addition of minor forest produce in Chhattisgarh with the
majority of them belonging to the Schedule Tribes category.
