Rajnandgaon police’s campaign against narcotics,drugs yielding positive results
In just one and a half month, 360 people were arrested in 350 cases of illicit liquor, 3194 liters of liquor, 34 motor cycles and 5 of four wheelers were seized
Rajnandgaon: A large number of inter-state smugglers who supplied liquor to Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and its many districts were also apprehended.
The campaign against narcotics/drugs, being carried out on a war footing in Rajnandgaon district under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) SantoshSingh, is yielding positive results in curbing the menace in the district.
Students in their schools and common people through chaupals are being made aware about the ill-effects of drugs. Banners, posters and painting on the walls have become the effective medium of public awareness.
Following strict instructions from the SP on illicit liquor business, as many as 360 accused were apprehended from January 01, 2022 till date under Section 350 of Excise Act. In a major success, Rajnandgaon police confiscated 3194 liters of liquor worth around Rs 14,59,800and 34 motor cycles and 05 four wheeler used in transport worth Rs 29,15,500 and ‘jumla’ worth Rs 36,33,340. In which 92 accused were arrested and sent to jail under Section 34 (2) Excise Act.
Under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Rajnandgaon, Dongargarh and Manpur, CSP Rajnandgaon and SDOP, Khairagarh, Gandai, Dongargarh, Ambagarh Chowki and Manpur, all the station in-charges, outpost in-charge, cyber cell in-charge and ‘cheetah squad’ along with their respective staff did commendable work by detecting the accused.
