Physiotherapy students end strike after meeting with Health Minister T S Singhdeo
Minister Singhdeo assured students of fulfilling most of the demands
Raipur:The 13-day strike by the students of Government Physiotherapy College had come to an end on Sunday following a meeting with Chhattisgarh health Minister T S Singhdeo. It is to be mentioned, the students had been observing strike since December 13 to push for their demands.
Health Minister Singhdeo had assured the students for considering their demands during their meeting on Sunday.
According to information the Health Minister assured of fulfilling most of the demands including hostel and OPD after which students decided to return to their classes and OPD on Monday.
The delegation of the striking students was discussed four major issues with the health minister. The biggest demand of the students was hostel facility and the Health Minister spoke to the Raipur Collector. It was decided to allot land for the hostel in Devendra Nagar. The Health Minister assured to start the construction work promptly after getting the paperwork done for allotment of land. In order to solve the problem due to less space in the OPD, it has been directed to shift the OPD to the Government Physiotherapy College.
BPT stipend file is with Finance Department
The Health Minister told the students, the file of BPT stipend has been sent again to the Finance Department after necessary corrections. It will be implemented after getting approval from the Finance Department.
Emphasis on enhancing facilities for Masters course
There was also a demand from the students for a Masters Degree course in Physiotherapy. Therefore, it was decided to start the course only after the facilities are developed.
Students had written letter to minister with blood
It is to be mentioned, students had submitted a memorandum written with their blood to the Health Minister last week. Students had boycotted both the classes and the OPD. They took out rally last week. Physiotherapy students wrote a letter with blood.
